yes the 'the' is actually part of the name of the club. this place is open to anyone that has money to splash at the bar and is willing to dance to music that is sadly popular at whatever time they happen to enter it. it's a normal affair of flashing lights, sweaty bodies and everyone getting very drunk by the time they are finished, but there is a room you can go to cool down.

having stolen the idea from washington the black cat's main stage is on the second floor, and can hold roughly 700 people. lesser known acts play in the "backstage", a smaller area on the first floor that holds approximately 300 people. there is also a bar and lounge called "the red room" and a cafe that serves primarily vegetarian food. mostly this place is known for its continuing support of the indie rock artists.

this place shifts between two things, a nightclub and a concert arena where local and non local bands can perform. quite famous for it's focus on primarily rock, new wave, and punk bands. it was originally called the atlantis club in the 70s but now it's 9:30. it's standing only so you have to dance, or be crushed standing still. it's up to you to decide whether you want to face it.
